President Bola Tinubu has announced plans to launch the National Values Charter in the first quarter of 2025. Approved by the Federal Executive Council, the charter seeks to strengthen trust, unity, and mutual commitment between the government and citizens, fostering cooperation across Nigeria’s diverse population. Tinubu shared this in his New Year message, emphasizing that shared values are essential for the success of his administration’s reforms.
“I will launch a national orientation campaign to inspire patriotism and love for Nigeria. These reforms will only deliver their full potential through shared identity, values, and collective dedication to our country,” Tinubu said.
National Youth Confab Also Set for Q1
In the same address, Tinubu confirmed that the National Youth Confab, first mentioned in October 2024, will begin in the first quarter of 2025. This conference underscores the government’s commitment to youth empowerment and inclusion.
“The Youth Confab will begin in Q1 2025 as part of our dedication to nurturing young Nigerians as nation-builders. The Ministry of Youth will soon announce how representatives will be selected from our diverse youth population,” the president stated.
A Focus on Youth and National Unity
The 30-day Youth Confab aims to unite young people from across the country to address pressing issues such as education, employment, innovation, security, and social justice. Tinubu emphasized that the initiative would spark meaningful dialogue and enable Nigerian youths—who make up over 60% of the population—to take an active role in shaping the nation’s future.
The conference’s structure and delegate selection process will be developed in close consultation with youth representatives to ensure inclusivity and effectiveness.
Both initiatives—the National Values Charter and the Youth Confab—highlight Tinubu’s vision of fostering trust, unity, and active participation in nation-building.
