Italian club Napoli has rejected a €65 million bid from Galatasaray for the permanent transfer of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen joined the Turkish club on loan last September after a last-minute move to Chelsea in the Premier League fell through. Since arriving in Turkey, the Nigerian forward has been in exceptional form, scoring 16 goals and providing five assists in 20 appearances.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Napoli turned down Galatasaray’s offer, insisting on the full release clause of €75 million. The report states that while Galatasaray is eager to keep Osimhen, Napoli has made it clear they will not negotiate a lower fee.
Initially, Osimhen’s release clause was set at €130 million. However, it was reduced last summer when he signed a new contract with Napoli before securing his loan move to Galatasaray.
Reports suggest that Galatasaray could still finalize the deal for €75 million. However, other European clubs interested in Osimhen may need to pay an additional €6 million in compensation to secure his services.
Osimhen’s impressive performances have made him a sought-after player in the transfer market. With the Nigerian international attracting interest from top European clubs, Galatasaray faces stiff competition to secure his signature permanently.
For now, Napoli remains firm on its valuation, and it remains to be seen whether Galatasaray or another club will meet their asking price before the transfer window closes.
