Israeli actress Gal Gadot has shared that she underwent emergency surgery to treat a blood clot in her brain shortly after giving birth to her fourth child.
The Wonder Woman star revealed that in March, she was diagnosed with cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) during the final stages of her pregnancy. The condition followed weeks of “excruciating headaches” that left her bedridden.
“I finally underwent an MRI that revealed the terrifying truth,” Gal wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post. “In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be.”
Gadot described the experience as a stark reminder of life’s unpredictability. Despite her fears, she and her husband, Jaron Versano, quickly sought medical help. “We rushed to the hospital, and within hours, I underwent emergency surgery,” she recounted.
During this challenging time, her daughter Ori was born, bringing light to an otherwise dark chapter in her life. “Her name, meaning ‘my light,’ wasn’t chosen by chance,” Gadot explained. “Before the surgery, I told Jaron that our daughter would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel.”
The actress expressed immense gratitude to her medical team at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for their dedicated care during her recovery. “I made it through and began the road to recovery,” she shared. “Today, I am fully healed and filled with gratitude for the life I’ve been given back.”
Reflecting on her ordeal, Gadot emphasized the importance of listening to one’s body. “Pain, discomfort, or even subtle changes often carry deeper meaning,” she said, encouraging others to prioritize their health. She also highlighted the need for awareness about CVT, a rare condition affecting three in 100,000 pregnant women over 30. “It’s so important to identify it early because it’s treatable,” she noted.
Now, fully recovered, Gadot cherishes life with her family. She and Jaron, her husband of 16 years, are proud parents to four daughters: Alma, 13; Maya, 7; Daniella, 3; and Ori, 9 months.
Gadot concluded her message with a powerful reminder of resilience and gratitude, saying, “This journey has taught me to never take life for granted.”
