The Nigerian Police Zone 16 Command, based in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, has arrested six individuals in Rivers State for their involvement in cybercrime, car theft, and ritualistic activities. The suspects were apprehended in the Progress Estate, Eneka, Rukpoku area of Port Harcourt, following a targeted operation by the Zonal Anti-Money Laundering/Countering Financing of Terrorism team led by CSP Isaac Uhawha.
The arrested individuals, identified as Emmanuel Chinedu, 34, Uche Darlington Mark, 33, Micah Douglas, 22, Stephen Martins, 29, Jack Prosper, 22, and Shimkayah Oju Ibor, 18, are believed to have engaged in internet fraud, stealing vehicles, and participating in ritual practices. The police statement, released by Zonal Police Relations Officer SP Emonena Gunn, highlighted the significant concerns over the rise of these illegal activities in the region.
The arrests are part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Police to clamp down on cybercrime, money laundering, and other criminal operations that pose a threat to public safety.
