A 45-year-old man, identified as Alani Rasaq, tragically passed away after collapsing in front of a fuel station opposite the Fire Brigade office in Ifo, Ogun State, on Tuesday, December 17.
According to the station manager, Segun Afolabi, the incident occurred around 3 p.m. Afolabi reported the matter to the Ifo Police Division, explaining that the man suddenly slumped and died at the station. Following the report, police officers quickly arrived at the scene and transported Rasaq to the General Hospital, where doctors on duty confirmed his death.
The authorities have since moved the deceased’s body to the Ifo mortuary. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death.
SP Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that an autopsy is underway to establish the exact cause of death.
This tragic occurrence has drawn attention from the community, with some expressing concern about the circumstances leading to Rasaq’s death. The police have urged the public to await the results of the autopsy, which they say will provide clarity.
